Experts from Nestlé Nutrition believe that production could be improved by better scheduling. To test this, a simulation model is developed that includes the production processes, the packaging processes and the storage processes. The simulation model is being used by the planning department to analyze the weekly and monthly production and packaging planning, to evaluate alternative production schedules and to assess production risks such as the material stock out due to truck variability arrival patterns.
