How to increase contractor efficiency & safety by optimizing the daily commute?

Updated: Jan 18, 2019

Organizing an efficient & safe commute for 20,000s of workers was the main reason to model the traffic for a large energy company at one of their major construction sites. At a remote location, contractors are housed in multiple camps. For their daily commute they rely on the bus to take them to work. By modelling the traffic flow and analyzing the congestion, the camp allocation and commute schedules are optimized with respect to waiting time. As a result, each worker spends 30 minutes less on his or her commute, saving potentially USD 400,000 per day while also reducing traffic congestion, improving safety & job satisfaction. Systems Navigator's traffic commute model is used throughout the lifetime of the project to maximize the benefits to both employees, contractors and our client.
