The port is located at the strait of Gibraltar. Due to economical development and the close distance to Spain, (cargo) traffic on this route is growing fast, as also the worldwide demand for container hub and ferry terminal. Therefore the management of the port of Tanger (TMSA) decided to use simulation for the evaluation of possible strategic choices (ferries or not ?) and lay-outs for the port, when having an increased capacity for ferries and a sufficient container handling capacity.
