Locks & waterways
Systems Navigator supports locks and waterways with professional services, simulation and scheduling solutions. The scope of our work ranges from analyzing the performance of different lock or waterway logistics, extensions to lock infrastructure, changes in vessel traffic or navigation conditions to planning & scheduling system deployment.
Why simulate your
lock or waterway?
The design and development of locks & waterways is a big undertaking. There are huge financial, environmental, political, regulatory and practical aspects to be considered and carefully weighed. These projects take a great deal of time and effort in the design and approval phases. Preparation is the key to the success of the project, and the best preparation will employ the use of simulation.
Simulation is the only way to understand how various restrictions and marine traffic will interact with each other and how they are affected by external factors, such as weather, tide and other traffic.
“Systems Navigator’s solid experience in this field, combined with Witteveen+Bos’ expertise and Rijkswaterstaat’s knowledge about the usage and challenges of the “older SIVAK”, perfectly positioned this consortium to re-design and renew SIVAK. To ensure the quality of the model, Marin Research Institute is included as an external advisor to Rijkswaterstaat.”
