Valid Use of Research/Educational Software:
When the research/educational software is used to model and analyze commercial/government systems, for instance as part of a senior class project, thesis, or research project, the following restrictions apply. Animation files (.avi) and animation screen shots (.jpg) from these applications can be given to nonuniversity organizations without any additional license. Arena model files (.doe), Arena program file (.p), Arena template files (.tpo & .tpl), Project files (.snpf) and report files (.snrf) as well as results of any type (including summarized analysis data) may not be given to non-university organizations without prior approval from Systems Navigator, unless the organization that's being analysed owns commercial software with equal capability. Summarized analysis data contained within a publicly published thesis or paper is exempt from these restrictions.

Definition of "Academic":
While Systems Navigator supports using Arena & Scenario Navigator to help charities, our license policies for using academic software still equally apply to charitable organizations. For an exception to this policy, contact Systems Navigator.

Only currently enrolled/employed undergraduate students, graduate students and professors are authorized to use academic software. Many commercial organizations have an academic component, such as a service company or hospital that also offers training or teaching. Unless education is the primary service delivered by an organization, then it will be considered to be a commercial organization unless prior written authorization from Systems Navigator is provided.
