Multiple user accounts can be created in Scenario Navigator. The user credentials are checked when the application starts up as was described in the previous section. Scenario Navigator has a variety of user management functionalities which will be explained in this section.
To help you in understanding user management, first the basic concepts behind the Scenario Navigator user management need to be explained. Each user of the application needs a user account. Basically, this is a user name and password combination which enables the user to login to the application. Each user can also be assigned a number of roles. A role defines certain user rights that specify what a user can or cannot do with the application. Furthermore, the data in Scenario Navigator is organized in projects. A user can be assigned to a number of projects. Projects which are not assigned to a specific user can not be accessed by this user.
To open the User Management
Click cancel in the open project screen
Click file in the Menu Bar
Click User Management
Now the User Management is open
The user management screen in Scenario Navigator consists of four main tabs. The users tab, the projects tab, the user roles tab and the licenses tab. In these tabs you can create, edit or delete users. Below the functionality on each of these tab panels is explained.
Figure 10: User management screen
The users tab in Scenario Navigator allows you to add/edit/delete users in Scenario Navigator (See "Figure 11: Users tab in user management screen"). Also, in this tab panel the user roles are assigned to the selected user. Depending on the purchased license a different number of user roles are available. A user can be assigned multiple user roles if desired.

Click on Add User to open a dialog window to add a new user (See "Figure 12: Add new user screen"). Enter the user name, password and confirm the password. Click on “Ok” to confirm. When you would like to edit an existing user you need to select the user to edit and press the “Edit” button. In order to delete a user you should select the user you would like to delete and then press the “Delete” button.

In Scenario Navigator there are 4 available user roles. These roles are: developer, administrator, user and viewer. These roles can not be changed, nor can any new roles be created. In the table below the user roles and the actions allowed are shown.

Figure 13: User roles in Scenario Navigator
When the user or users have been created, they have to be assigned a user role. In the Available User Roles part of the users tab, you can see which roles a user can have and how there are left to give. The number of available roles depends on your license.
To assign a user role:
Select a user
Select a user role
Click the > button

You see in the Assigned User Roles which user roles are assigned to a selected user. If a user needs to have their user roles change, this is possible.
To change roles
Select a user
Select an assigned user role
Click the < Button
Click Ok
You now have changed a user role
After you removed an assigned user role from a user, you can perform the steps described in “To assign a user role” to assign another user role to the user.
The projects tab shows the projects that are available in Scenario Navigator. In this tab panel you can add or remove users from a specific project. Removing or adding users to a project allows them to see and access the data inside the project. The lower part of the screen shows all available users and the users that are assigned to each project when a project is selected.

In the user roles tab you can see the different roles that can be assigned to a user. For each role you can look up its permissions.
Figure 15: User roles tab in user management screen
In this tab panel you find which licenses have been installed in your Scenario Navigator database (See "Figure 16: Licenses tab in user management screen"). Normally the list of licenses will only contain one license, usually the license that you purchased and used to activate the installation. However, when multiple Scenario Navigator clients share the same database server, then a pool of licenses is created. When a pool of licenses is created then this influences the number of available user roles on that database server. When clicking on license information about the selected license is shown: license type, start date and end date.
Finally, this tab panel contains a button named “De-activate Scenario Navigator”. When you click this button the application will ask if Scenario Navigator should be de-activated. De-activation means that the currently installed license, the one on this machine, will be removed. This is only necessary if a license should be transferred from one PC to another. If you would not de-activate the license in such a case, then Scenario Navigator may not be activated on the new PC.
