Is Systems Navigator headed in the right direction?

Postby rabijlsma on Thu Jun 05, 2008 8:56 am

I founded Systems Navigator exactly 5 years ago, in June 2003, after being in the simulation industry since 1995. The reason I decided to create a new company was triggered by several observations I made during my career until then.

Image Simulation technology has a broad application potential, being capable to model any process including all the complexities in any market.

Image Simulation model builders who have several years of experience using a simulation software package, tend to think of it as their religion.

Image Model building in any general purpose simulation software package, is a combination of skill, experience and creativity. This results in unique models for almost every new application.

Image The real end users of simulation technology are not model builders, but business managers and analysts who need to make decisions or give advice on complicated issues.

Image Most commercial simulation packages can do all the necessary basics to create succesfull models.

Image End users have no interest in which simulation software is used, they simply want a model that is correct, easy to adjust, easy to experiment with, and easy to interpret the model's results.

Based on these observations, my genuine believe that simulation technology has so much to offer to organizations and that its true power is yet to be untapped, I started thinking about what it would take in order to create and deliver simulation technology into an organization as part of a decision support system. Since its conception, Systems Navigator has designed its solutions and services in such a way, that our end customers can receive the best value for their simulation investment. Our solutions have helped them in making better decisions on a lot of complex issues in a large variety of markets. The initial trust that we have received from our customers, we have used to create a unique development platform to enable any simulation model, to be turned into an operational decision support system within an enterprise. This unique platform, Scenario Navigator, is the perfect way for organizations to start untapping the real power of simulation, and use it over and over again!

In this forum I look forward to your comments and feedback on our strategy; is Systems Navigator headed in the right direction?

Furthermore I would like to ask all of you to contribute as much as possible in this "Discussion" forum; state your questions, drop your ideas, share your view on our industry. This will help us all in realizing the untapped powers of simulation and ensure that organizations "Choose the right direction!".

Thank you in advance for all your contributions!

Systems Navigator have been working for me in connection with a large software project for one of the UK's biggest oil & gas companies.

The software system which Systems Navigator have helped to design and build over the last 5years is used for production planning and control in a manufacturing environment. The main focus for Systems Navigator has been around production planning and scheduling and I can honestly say the guys have done an excellent job!

The level of support and help i've received from them has been tremendous - including calls made during holidays, weekends as well as through the night. They've refused none of my requests for input and have certainly contributed above and beyond what was required.

I hope to continue working with Systems Navigator in future projects!
